Part-Time Employee Benefits
The eligibility process begins when the employee requests verification through his or her supervisor after they have completed two years of continuous service. A request for verification of eligibility for earned time is done at that time. After the eligibility is verified (2 years of continuous service, working at least 750 hours per year) the hours are calculated and sent to the Central Human Resource office for verification. When verified, the Central Human Resource Office (Employee Benefits Division) will send the benefit package. Our office forwards the part-time medical benefits information along with the earned time card to the employee.
For earned time, the employee should give the card to his/her supervisor on a monthly basis for signature and then sent to Betsy Hockenberry, 307 Ag Administration Building, for review and verification of hours worked and earned. At the end of the year, the original time card should be sent to Kim for a new earned time card for the upcoming year to be issued. The ending balances will be transferred to the new card and forward back to the supervisor.
The following information below describes the earned time process and other conditions of employment:
A. Eligibility and Accrual
Eligibility for earned time begins when a nonacademic employee has completed two years of continuous service, working at least 750 hours each year. Eight hours of earned time is accrued for every 168 hours an individual works a month. An individual may accumulate up to 96 hours of earned time.
B. Use of Accumulated Earned Time
Earned time may account for work time missed due to illness or vacation. The University shall give consideration to any specific request for time off by an employee. Except in the case of illness or an emergency, time off is to be charged to the earned time accumulation only when such absence has been scheduled and approved by the supervisor in advance.
C. Holiday Time
Holiday time is received once the employee has completed two years of continuous service, working at least 750 hours each year. Employees shall receive her/his regular pay for the University Holidays that occur on a day that the employee is normally scheduled to work.
Employee’s required to work on a University Holiday, shall be paid at the rate of time and one-half the hourly rate for all hours worked on the holiday.
