Fiscal Year 2008/2009
Faculty On 48-Week Appointments:
The 36-week salary option will continue to be available to faculty in the College. Faculty who wish to convert from a 48-week appointment to a 36-week appointment will forego the first 14% in salary increases beginning July 1 of the fiscal year of conversion. The 14% will be based on the cumulative annual average salary increase allocation for faculty in the College and will be separate from salary adjustments associated with promotion. The conversion option is voluntary and non-reversible. Faculty who wish to exercise this option must notify their Unit Leader in writing and complete the attached 36-Week Work Contract Form. These materials should be returned to the department administrative office along with the annual Personnel Assignment Form. Also attached is a copy of College policy to administer the 36-week salary plan. Faculty should read this information carefully before making the decision to convert. If you have questions, please contact Roger Martell at 865-6629.
Faculty On 36-Week Appointments:
Please complete the attached new year 36-Week Appointment Work Contract Form and return it to the department administrative office along with your annual Personnel Assignment Form. Faculty approved for sabbatical leave or who plan on retiring or terminating employment with the University during the fiscal year should discuss work schedule options with Roger Martell (865-6629) prior to schedule submission. This is to ensure that there are no disruptions in the faculty member’s benefits or retirement contributions due to work scheduling.
Also attached is a copy of College policy to administer the 36-week salary plan. Please review this information and keep it on file for your future reference.
Requests For Supplemental Salary Payments:
Supplemental Salary Requests for July 2008: There has always been a challenge processing the supplemental requests for the month of July. At the time the requests are required, faculty eligible for increases do not know their new salary rates. This has caused much confusion as to how to handle the payments. To help provide continuity in requesting July supplemental payments standard operating guidelines have been established. If you plan on requesting supplemental pay in July, please refer to the attached guidelines for July 2008 supplemental salary requests.
Supplemental Salary Requests for August 2008 - June 2009: Faculty may duplicate the attached Supplemental Salary Request Form and use it to request supplemental salary payments during the August 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009 time period.
Supplemental Form Processing Requirements: Faculty must to submit completed forms to Bambi Gates in Room 214 Ag Admin Bldg prior to the 1st of the month that the supplement is to be paid. Supplemental salary must be requested as it is earned. Requests must be consistent with the faculty member’s work contract and not exceed the maximum supplement available for the time period requested. As required for audit purposes, please attach a letter of justification to the form if requesting supplement that goes back more than one monthly pay period (30 days). To expedite the processing of supplemental requests, faculty should verify that forms have needed approvals to include outside funding unit if applicable. A separate form must be completed for each different supplemental funding source. Bambi will process all supplemental requests received by the 1st of the month and forward a copy of the executed electronic IBIS Supplemental Form to the department administrative office.
If you have questions regarding processing a supplemental salary request, please contact Bambi Gates at 865-6637.
